The Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation has named a 23-member team of talented swimmers, aged between 11 and 23, to represent the country at the prestigious 2025 XXI Africa Aquatics Zone IV swimming and open water swimming championships.
The pool and open water teams will be out to defend their championship titles from the 2024 edition of the event. This year’s championships began yesterday in Manzini, Eswatini, and will run until 6 September for pool events, followed by the open water competition.
Namibia’s swimmers will join more than 300 athletes from 14 countries, competing in 140 events. This edition marks one of the largest Zone IV championships to date, second only to last year’s event that Namibia hosted.
The team is led by head coach Adriaan Maritz, with team manager Tarryn MacNamara and assistant manager Zimone Stoffberg adding vital support.
In a message of encouragement, the Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation said: “May the waters be fast and your strokes strong.”
Director of Sport, Jo-ann Manuel added: “All the best to the team. We also extend our sincere thanks to the leadership under Riaan Steyn for their dedication in ensuring Namibia’s participation.”
