WALVIS BAY – Popular Walvis Bay shop, Multisave Supermarket, became the latest victim in a spate of armed robberies carried out at the coast.
According to the Erongo Police, the shopping outlet lost more than N$313 000 on Wednesday morning when armed robbers surprised the shop owner’s son, a 30-year-old man, as he was opening the shop.
“It is alleged that three suspects, all armed with pistols, approached a 30-year-old male employee outside the supermarket and robbed him at gunpoint. The suspects took a bag containing the money and car keys before fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle,” the police report reads.
The suspects allegedly fled the scene in a grey Polo sedan with a Swakopmund registration number.
According to the police, the money was collected from various shops and was to be counted before being deposited at a bank.
