WINDHOEK – A woman who claims to have been arrested for the same offence twice appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Justine Asino on Monday.
Dorkas Kazombaue, 39, told the court that after she was released from jail following her arrest on theft charges on September 17 she was informed by a certain security guard at Pick n Pay that she only identified as Romeo, that she was caught on their video camera stealing. The unemployed, single mother of two minor children aged 15 and 5 was then allegedly arrested on September 28.
However, Kazombaue was adamant that she did not steal anything again after she pleaded guilty in Asino’s court and was fined N$300 or 30 days imprisonment when she fisrst appeared in court.
Regarding the first theft on September 17 she was accused of stealing a special edition shopping bag valued at N$359.99. On the second theft it is alleged she stole one red and black shopping bag valued at N$359.99, stewing beef worth N$52.52, one Kameeldoring boerewors pack valued at N$32.22, two slabs of cheese worth N$85.99 apiece and one Conti Suit worth N$119.99. The combined value of the alleged stolen items is N$736.70.
Magistrate Asino ordered State Prosecutor Samantha Diergaardt to draw the first charge sheet to check whether it was indeed the same items listed on the latest charge sheet annexure or not.
