Police in Oshana are frantically looking for the whereabouts of a woman who allegedly dumped her newly-born baby in the Oshakati-Calueque Canal.
The newborn was found dumped in the canal behind Game Shopping Centre in Oshakati last Sunday.
According to Warrant Officer Tomas Aiyambo, no one was arrested in connection with the incident.
And the police do not currently have a suspect.
Aiyambo has thus urged any member of the community that knows a woman that was pregnant and they are suspecting that she is no longer pregnant but does not have a baby to show for her pregnancy to immediately notify the police.
In another incident, a 16-year-old boy appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on charges of rape.
The suspect from Oshikanda village in Oshigambo area raped an eight-year-old girl when he entered the girl’s bedroom around 16h00 on Sunday.
The name of the boy cannot be released as he is a minor.
