Windhoek
Bank Windhoek reaffirmed its commitment to the development of local volleyball with a whopping sponsorship of N$80 000 for the Namibian Volleyball Federation (NVF) Cup.
The sponsorship is in addition to the N$40 000 that Bank Windhoek earlier availed to the NVF to host the 2015 Bank Windhoek Namibia Open Beach Volleyball Championship, bringing the total sponsorship to N$120 000.
Joel Matheus, president of the NVF, said: “The NVF Cup is the most prestigious event on the calendar of Namibian volleyball. It is prestigious because it is played only by the champions, the top two men and women’s teams from our five regional associations.
“For a team to participate in this competition, it has to work hard from February to July to finish top of the log in their respective regions.”
This is the only competition that will qualify teams for the Zone 6 Senior Club Championship and the only event that will create an opportunity for any local team to participate in the Central African Volleyball Senior Club Championship.
“It is a privilege and honour to be associated with the 2015 Bank Windhoek NVF Cup. We believe that volleyball has entered an exciting phase, hence the sponsorship of N$80 000. For Bank Windhoek it is important that volleyball be played in the regions and that sports in general should be inclusive of the whole country,” Bank Windhoek’s Head of Corporate Communication and Social Investment, Riaan van Rooyen, emphasized.
