The Bank Windhoek Holdings Golf Day in Aid of Welfare, recently held at the Windhoek Golf Club Golf Course, proved to be a roaring success with 30 teams teeing off for the prestigious winner’s trophy.

Corporate companies, government agencies and NGOs were invited to enter and compete for this noble cause, with all proceeds raised going to various welfare organisations in Namibia.

Since its inception, the popular golf day has raised over N$1.3 million in aid of welfare and this year an amount of N$100 000 was raised, while additional funds will also be raised by the raffling of a Venter trailer filled with groceries.

The Venter trailer is sponsored by Lubbe’s Motor Group, while the groceries are sponsored by Shoprite Namibia. The format was the scramble drive and the day concluded with a prize-giving ceremony that saw each team receiving prizes for their efforts.

The hosts, Bank Windhoek Walvis Bay branch were the overall winners tailed by Capricorn Asset Management in second spot, while Bank Windhoek’s marketing and corporate communication department returned the compliment to the victorious colleagues with a third place finish.

“We want to thank all the participants in this year’s Bank Windhoek Holdings Golf Day in Aid of Welfare. Without each team’s outstanding sportsmanship, this event would not have been such a great success,” said Riaan van Rooyen, head of corporate affairs, strategy and sustainability.

Individual prize winners were as follows:
• Longest drive: Andrew Milne
• Nearest to the pin on hole 3: René Kruger
• Nearest to the pin on hole 9: Gunther Heitman
• Nearest to the pin on hole 13: Fouché Brand
• Nearest to the pin on hole 17: Fouché Brand
