Bank Windhoek Holdings recently embarked on its first comprehensive national campaign of health screenings for all employees. The health screening campaign started in Windhoek and will then move to all Group entities countrywide.

Employees from Bank Windhoek, Bank Windhoek Holdings, Welwitschia Insurance, Capricorn Asset Management, Nam-mic and NamibBou will participate in the health screenings. A team of nurses perform the confidential health screenings at branches and departments and also make use of a mobile unit.

The 15-20 minute free consultation includes blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose (sugar) tests, as well as the measurement of employees’ body mass index. Voluntary HIV testing and counselling also forms part of the health screenings.

“At Bank Windhoek Holdings we care about and value each of our more than 1 600 employees’ wellbeing. This is why we embarked on the national health screening campaign, which started on 30 May and concludes in October 2016,” says Marjolize Scholtz, wellness consultant at Bank Windhoek.

“It has been proven that a healthy employee is a happy and productive employee and we, therefore, fully support our Wellness department’s initiative.”

Scholtz says screening is the starting point of taking full ownership of your health. From there an individual can start improving his or her lifestyle with better and healthy behaviour that impacts the whole family, such as nutritious meals cooked at home, or increased physical activity with the family. “Healthy employees will feel more energetic and positive, while also missing less work while having to caring for ill family members as well.”

“We, therefore, encourage all Group employees to participate and gain knowledge that will enable them to make informed decisions about their health,” Scholtz advised.
