Home Time Out Bank Windhoek Triennial exhibition closes today

WINDHOEK – Members of the public still have a chance to view and buy the artworks of high quality of the artists who took part in this year’s Bank Windhoek Triennial at the National Art Gallery of Namibia (NAGN) before the Triennial exhibition closes to the public today.

Bank Windhoek and the National Art Gallery of Namibia (NAGN) are excited to announce the publication of the Bank Windhoek Triennial catalogue, featuring the artworks of 99 artists that took part in the Triennial Competition. The catalogue, also featuring the winning artworks, is now available at the NAGN for N$50. The Competition, organised by the NAGN takes place every three years. This year’s opening and prize-giving ceremony took place on September 5 at the NAGN and the Bank Windhoek Triennial Exhibition has been running since and will end for the public on today..

The Bank Windhoek Triennial is a forum where Namibian artists can be part of an art exhibition that promotes excellence as an essential ingredient. It is also a communally inspiring event that challenges Namibian artists to show their best efforts on a truly professional level. The advantage of the three-year time gap, between successive Triennials, is that it provides an opportunity for artists to learn from the previous experience, and to use the interlude to apply newly acquired knowledge in preparing prizewinning work for the next event. “The NAGN is extremely proud to be associated with Bank Windhoek in this important partnership, which was established in 2008. The Bank Windhoek Triennial 2014 is the third successive event of its kind held at the NAGN. The artworks are of extremely high quality and the public should not miss the opportunity to view the artworks at the NAGN, but if they do, they can purchase the catalogue which is now available at the NAGN”, says Hercules Viljoen, Director of the NAGN.
