Well within the weight limit and having already wrapped up preparations at the weekend, Namibia’s African cruiserweight champion Vikapita ‘Beast Master’ Meroro last night jetted out of the country en route to Moscow, Russia where he will challenge for the WBA Cruiserweight International title.
Meroro will this coming Friday confront Russian opponent Dmitry Kudryashov for the WBA title currently held by the undefeated 29-year-old Russian.
The highly experienced hard-punching Namibian is currently rated number 4 in the world by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and holds an impressive record of 32 fights, 28 wins and 4 losses, while Kudryashov has an incredibly impressive resume of 17 wins from the same number of fight, with all his 17 victories coming by way of knockout.
Speaking to New Era Sport ahead of their departure yesterday, promoter Nestor Tobias oozed confidence and expressed satisfaction with the readiness and overall preparation of Meroro, saying the ‘Beast Master’ will deliver one of his biggest performances.
“We are done and happy with Meroro’s overall preparations, particularly his speed and power. He is well within the required cruiserweight limit of 90.7 kg and very much physically and psychologically fit to give Kudryashov a good run for his money. Everyone can expect a great fight where no favours will be asked nor given,” said Tobias.
