… Tjingaveta, Indongo in the mix
WINDHOEK – World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa Interim Cruiserweight champion, Vikapita ‘Beast Master’ Meroro has promised to send his opponent Said Mbelwa to the canvas either in the 4th or 5th round, saying he is in no mood for lengthy ring negotiations as he wants to start early Christmas celebrations.
Billed as this year’s last boxing bonanza of the MTC Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias Boxing & Fitness Academy, Meroro will confront Mbelwa from Tanzania in an international cruiserweight fight over 10 rounds, which also serves as the main bout of the ‘International Boxing Bonanza’ slated for the Wennie Du Plessis School Hall in Gobabis, this Saturday.
Meroro, who boasts a record of 24 wins (12 KOs) and 4 losses from 28 fights, was last in action against Pascal Ndomba from Tanzania whom he sent to the canvas in the 2nd round to successfully defend his WBO Africa Interim Cruiserweight crown, while his opponent Mbelwa holds a record of 25 wins (17 KOs), 13 losses and 4 draws from 42 fights in the paid ranks.
Also on the menu on the night will be Jatoorora ‘Sting’ Tjingaveta, who takes on compatriot Tommy ‘The Lion’ Hango in a welterweight 8-rounder, while the young and sharp-punching Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo will make his first title defence when he puts his title on the line against Zambian Joel Mwelwa.
