With less than five games remaining in the FNB women’s Super League, log leaders Beauties are determined to secure maximum points from their fixtures this weekend.
Beauties play Khomas Nampol tomorrow, before a crucial match against Windhoek City on Sunday. These games could significantly impact on their dream of winning the league.
Action kicks off today at the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Technical Centre at 17h30, with V-Power Angels taking on Julinho Athletic Ladies. Tomorrow at the same venue, Windhoek City (8th position) will entertain African Stars Queens (third position) at 10h00, followed by Nust Babes FC (10th) against FC Ongos at 13h00.
At 16h00, Beauties will face a significant test against Khomas Nampol in a match that could push them closer to league glory. At the Nau-Aib Stadium, Okahandja will play coastal side Arrows Ladies at 11h00.
In an interview, Beauties’ head coach Salome Iyambo said their approach to every match is with the aim of collecting maximum points.
“Our focus is on maintaining high performance, staying mentally prepared, disciplined and resilient, and taking each game as it comes. The squad is united, hungry and fully-committed to finishing the season strong. We know the competition is tough, but we believe in our strategy, our preparation and most importantly, our players,” she said.
On Sunday at the NFA technical centre, Khomas Nampol will play African Stars Queens at 09h00, followed by Windhoek City against Beauties at 11h00, and Nust Babes will clash with Unam Bokkies at 13h00.
At the Vineta Stadium in Swakopmund, Namib Daughters will battle it out against Ongos FC, while at the Nau-Aib Stadium in Okahandja, Okahandja will take on Julinho Athletic Ladies at 11h00.
Kennedy Malgas, Okahandja FC head coach, acknowledged this weekend’s matches will be very challenging, but maintained their team has what it takes. “I think every team is fighting for points, even the smaller teams can’t afford to lose any valuable points. So we are going to go there and give it our all. We have what it takes to collect points,” he said.
