Black Africa ready for new season

Black Africa ready for new season

Zebaldt Ngaruka

The chairperson of the Black Africa (BA) Sports Club, Tony Adams, said the team is ready for the upcoming season in the first division.

The historic club was relegated from Namibia’s top-tier league in the 2022/23 season, and has been involved in leadership squabbles, which led to a court settlement.

He said the team is fully prepared for the new season, and aims for premier league returns.

“The team is fully prepared, and raring to make sure this team excels. We are at an advanced stage with negotiations about players wanting to join the club,” he said.

The chairperson added that the executive committee (Exco) is plotting strategies for the new season, and there are no departures from the current crop of players.

Asked about the team’s stance on the recent supporter club meeting that was recently held in Windhoek, Adams said the meeting is not in the team’s structure.

He stated that the meeting was held by the same people who do not acknowledge the current leadership following the court victory, and thus prompted them to abscond it.

Adams revealed the leaders know nothing about the meeting, which he said was organised by individuals who do not acknowledge the current Exco.

“How do you expect us to attend a Bosberaad meeting? These are the group of disgruntled people who are still having a terrible hangover,” he questioned.

He said they are the same people who supported the club to be taken to court, and they lost the case.

“There is no way we would ever attend a meeting being spearheaded by those who ridiculed and on record as saying they don’t recognise our leadership.  They will do anything to see our backs,” he added.

He said he does not see sincerity and honesty in the supporters who called the meeting.

“These are the same groups of people who made BA lose points and be fined by the league. They behave as if they have a monopoly of wisdom over all of us. Respect is two ways: you respect me, I respect you. If not, you can take a dive,” he said.

He divulged the club is in the process of formalising matters, and it will hold its annual general meeting in Khorixas in November this year.

“We don’t need any destruction at this moment,” the chairperson noted. -zngaruka@yahoo.com
