The Bank of Namibia (BoN) on Thursday handed over bursaries to 11 individuals in different fields of study.
While handing over the bursaries, BoN Governor Johannes ǃGawaxab reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to assisting qualified students in reaching their full potential.
“For over two decades, the bank has committed to this mission, ensuring that bright, determined students, regardless of their background, are given the opportunity to reach their highest potential. And today, we reaffirm that commitment. Education is more than an individual pursuit, it’s a national imperative,” ǃGawaxab said.
Mella Dausas, a recipient to pursue a bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Namibia (UNAM), said she is grateful and honoured to be part of this year’s beneficiaries.
“I am happy that the Bank of Namibia will be covering my financial costs. This allows me to focus on my studies without any financial worries,” Dausas said.
Nandotjitioua Ndjavera is going to pursue his studies at the Namibia University of Science and Technology in applied mathematics and statistics. He said he is grateful for the bursary as it gives him an opportunity to become a PhD holder.
“I am very honoured and happy to have this bursary in my hands. I am going to study a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. I want to become a lecturer with a PhD or a Masters in a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics,” Ndjavera said.
The Bank of Namibia awards bursaries in the fields of economics, data science, mathematics and statistics, as well as industrial engineering to deserving and qualified students.
