Oshikoto Governor Henock Kankoshi congratulated players from the region for giving a good account of themselves at the recent Ministry of Works and Transport Championships, but equally urged them to bring more medals home from the next games.

The regional team recently paid a courtesy call on the governor to brief him on their overall performance during the just-ended 2nd edition of the ministerial championships held in the region. As the hosts and determined not to walk away empty-handed they delivered a great performance, scooping a trophy in the volleyball category and two silver medals and one bronze in athletics.

“This is the time when you should start training instead of waiting when it’s two months towards the start of the next games. The earlier you prepare, the better. I urge you to do more in the coming tourney and add two more trophies,” Kankoshi encouraged, promising to host a governor’s reception for the region’s atheletes if they happen to excel in next year’s third edition.

Khomas Region emerged the overall winner, lifting the soccer and netball trophies.

The rotating ministerial championships bring together the ministry’s employees while also harnessing a flexible working relationship beyond the office walls, and allows participants to get to know other parts of the country, hence its rotation. The third edition will be hosted in Karas Region.
