KEETMANSHOOP – A well-known businessman of Keetmanshop is currently fighting for his life in a Windhoek hospital after he was run over by a government truck in broad daylight in the town’s central business district on Monday.
Jakobus Hendrik Oosthuyzen, 77, popularly known as Roy among residents of Keetmanshoop, was reportedly crossing a street when the truck belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry struck him.
He sustained serious life-threatening head injuries.
He was immediately flown to Windhoek for advanced medical treatment.

Oosthuyzen built a reputation among the community as a prominent retail businessman and was generally perceived as a kind-hearted man.
The driver of the truck was arrested for reckless and negligent driving and will appear in court as soon as investigations have been completed.
Isaack also disclosed that In another incident, a 25-year-old man lost his life in the Growweland location at Tses near Keetmanshoop after he was stabbed by an underaged boy in the chest, neck and back.
Johannes Plaatjies, 25, died on arrival at the Keetmanshoop State Hospital and a suspect was arrested.
