WINDHOEK - Stealing to support an expensive lifestyle including private schools and expensive weddings plus various failed business ventures landed a former assistant accountant in jail for eight years after Windhoek High Court Judge Kobus Miller convicted her of 34 counts of fraud and one count of money laundering on her own admission.

Zambezi farmers face fall armyworm outbreak

RUNDU - The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry has confirmed there is an outbreak of fall armyworms in the Zambezi Region after it was reported on February 14 to have attacked crops in various areas – and considering the poor rain prospects this will affect the harvest immensely. According to the ministry the outbreak poses a significant threat to smallholder farmers, mainly maize farmers. and has become a threat to food security.

Veterans association denies link to PNPCVT

WINDHOEK - Namibia National Veteran Association (NNLVA) president Ben Shikongo has rebutted claims by the recently established ‘Peter Nanyemba Plan Combatant Veterans Trust’ (PNPCVT) that recently announced it is an affiliate of NNLVA, saying he never sanctioned the formation of PNPCVT.

Former top cop to spend 36 years behind bars

WINDHOEK - Depending on his behaviour in custody, a former chief police detective will have to spend the better part of three decades behind bars after Windhoek High Court Judge Dinnah Usiku sentenced him to 36 years imprisonment for murdering an 18-year-old because of jealousy over a woman.

Fifa NC calls for submission of election results

WINDHOEK - The FIFA Normalisation Committee (NC) has called on member organisations affiliated to the Namibia Football Association (NFA) to submit reports and results of their leadership committees’ elections in order to assist with the normalisation of the mother body.
