Since the world’s recent emphasis has not been about anything other than using the symbol of love for the sexualisation of society, the love for humankind has become a scarce commodity. 

Today, we present the views of several local creatives on what the year 2022 meant for them in terms of their craft. Amongst others, we asked about their highlights and accomplishments, who or what made their year, and lessons learned as well as their thoughts on mental health.

One of the most important things you can do to improve your overall financial well-being is to develop a good money mindset. A good money mindset means having realistic expectations about your finances, recognising that no one has an infinite amount, and being willing and able to save or invest money wisely.

As part of a responsible business ethos, Old Mutual continues to demonstrate a firm commitment to enabling positive change through the Old Mutual Foundation. During 2022, the Old Mutual Executive team supported community initiatives across Namibia to the value of N$176 000.

The eWTP (electronic world trade platform) is China’s e-commerce giant company Alibaba’s initiative to enable cross-border trade, and provide smart logistics and policy innovation to help small to medium businesses enter the Chinese consumer market to sell their products.

Namibia will hold its Presidential and National Assembly elections closer to the end of the year 2024. The winner of the 2024 presidential election will be sworn into office on 21 March 2025. 

The Silozi Service of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation in the Zambezi region introduced a programme, “ZaBuikumuso bwaka”, which literally means “My Pride.” This programme targeted entities like members of traditional authorities, where they should express themselves on things and events which matter in their areas.

Democracy is a form of governance, where people have the authority to choose governing officials. It is widely regarded as one of the best forms of governance as it promotes and upholds human rights and many other privileges.

When we buried a dear brother and fellow Pan Afrikanist, Bankie Foster Bankie, on 1 August 2017, a certain Glenory Whatson from the UK said something that has stuck with me forever, namely: “I don’t remember a day in my life when I was not a Pan Akrikanist.” I can as well say, I do not remember a day in my life when I was not a supporter of Brazil’s national soccer team, aka the Samba Boys.

One of the bedrocks of our democratic institutions is the social contract between voters and elected representatives. This contract hinges on people`s values, what they judge to be right or wrong, what they deem important, the causes they espouse, and the ideals they embrace in strengthening the quality of the country’s democracy.
