The MTC HopSol Youth Soccer League will continue this weekend with action from a raft of mouth-watering fixtures lined up for the various age categories.

Fifa secretary general Fatma Samoura on Tuesday wrote back to the country’s sport minister Agnes Tjongarero, again reiterating the world football governing body’s strong stance that it will not accept a breakaway league in Namibia and nor shall it entertain any undue influence or decisions taken by third parties not elected or appointed by the NFA.

Namibia’s Brave Warriors have been pitted against neighbours Zambia, Tanzania and Guinea in Group D of the 6th edition of the African Nations Championship (Chan), slated for Cameroon early next year.

Most memorable race? Last Saturday’s race in Kenya at the Kip Keino Classic, where I won the 400m race. 

Brave Warriors old-time campaigners such as veteran goalkeeper Virgil Vries, Chris Katjiukua, Peter Shalulile, Ananias Gebhardt, Denzil Haoseb, Larry Horaeb and Wesley Katjiteo are some of the experienced players that made the final 30-man squad that will face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in tomorrow international friendly at Rustenburg’s Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Sports minister Agnes Tjongarero recently wrote to Fifa secretary general Fatma Samoura, informing the world’s football governing body that the Namibian government will push ahead with its efforts to resolve the ongoing standoff between the Namibia Football Association (NFA) and the Namibia Premier League (NPL), despite Fifa’s recent threats to suspend Namibia.

Despite the importance of sports, it remains an area which is underdeveloped and underfunded, especially in Namibia.

The Namibia Schools Sports Union (NSSU) in collaboration with NamScore Sports Consultancy have embarked on a mission of equipping school teachers from all over the country with basic and advanced sports training.

The popular and ever-growing MTC HopSol Youth Soccer League returned to action over the weekend in the capital, with thrilling clashes witnessed in various categories, starting with the U/9’s and ending with the U/17’s.

Acting secretary general of the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Franco Cosmos has confirmed that the local football association is excited and looking forward to participate in the upcoming Fifa virtual compliance summit, which will be held from the 12-16 of this month.
