Veteran sports journalist Carlos Kambaekwa has opened a case of assault by threat against the owner of Young African Football Club Mali Ngarizemo.

With all sport on hold as the world continues to battle and overcome the coronavirus pandemic, I have taken the time to reflect on what makes sport enjoyable.

Despite a strongly held demographic prejudice, the village town of Katima Mulilo in the far north east region has in the past produced a significant number of great athletes though some of them went unnoticed.
Those that spring to mind are; Boston Muyambango Likando, Kayo Munyaza, Oscar Mulonda, Given Numwa and lately, the highly rated Namibian international Ryan Simasiku Nyambe. Sadly only a handful made it into the country’s elite football league with great aplomb. Apart from the quartet led by the GOAT Likando, Munyaza, Numwa and Nyambe, the only other genuinely recognized footballer from that neck of the woods is none other than lanky forward Agenda Matongo, also known as “Kookwater”. We caught up with the retired speedy winger as he relives his amazing football journey that saw him leaving seasoned robust defenders for dead, showing them a clean pair of heels with blistering speed.

As the deadly Covid-19 pandemic continues to ravage world economies and industries with its sharp invisible claws, Namibia’s leading para-athlete Johannes Nambala is calling upon all local athletes affected by the widespread coronavirus to register and make prudent use of government’s Emergency Income Grant.

Career achievements: Acquiring an Honours Degree in Sports Coaching and Level 2 Coaching Certificate. And also, playing netball in the UK was definitely an achievement I’ll cherish forever.

South African boxing great and renowned trainer, Brian Mitchell, in a recent interview with Africa’s leading sport broadcaster Supersport, said Namibia’s legendary boxer Harry Simon remains one of the greatest boxers he has ever trained.

First and foremost, I would like to salute every Namibian that had a dream to succeed in their sport talent but never manifested due to various reasons, and hence decided to pursue a career in coaching.
