The Namibia National Olympic Committee on Thursday held its elections at the Hilton Hotel in Windhoek, where Abner Xoagub was re-elected as president and veteran shooter Gaby Ahrens elected as vice president.

Dimitri Bittler was on Saturday elected the new chairperson of Khomas Netball, the regional netball governing body, which also administers the Super 10 League.

Sports minister Agnes Tjongarero yesterday expressed great delight with the 20.5% increment in the budget allocation to her ministry for the 2022/23 financial year, which she said will go a long way in reviving dilapidated sports facilities across the country.

Hockey fans in Windhoek and Swakopmund will be in for a treat this weekend when the Bank Windhoek Indoor Hockey League commences.

When tabling the national budget in Parliament yesterday, finance minister Iipumbu Shiimi announced that the sports ministry will be getting an increased allocation of N$330.9 million for the 2022/23 financial year, which is almost a N$51.9 million increment from the N$279 million the ministry got in the preceding fiscal period.

Imelda Nerongo is leading the charge at Netball Namibia (NN) as she has rapidly established her credentials in the netball world. In 2014, Nerongo was roped in as the secretary general, and has since led the charge, which resulted in the federation securing sponsorships from Debmarine Namibia and MTC.
