WINDHOEK-The new and upcoming young multi-talented artist and songwriter, Komunwe Nehemia, aka Chester has released of his latest debut album Time to shine that he dropped recently.
Chester sings music that is entertaining and educative through various genres of Afro-Pop, Hip-Hop, RnB and House. Born in January 1991 in the village of Onayena, Oshikoto region, Chester is currently studying Media studies at the University of Namibia (Unam). “Being always a recording artist, my music journey has given me the opportunity to work with a number of successful musicians like The Dogg, Vandepage, Tsempo, Ahaz and many more,” he says.
He adds that 2005 was the best year for him, since he released his first single hit, First step, which gained a massive fan base in the northern part of Namibia. Chester describes himself as an entertainer who loves cracking jokes with his fans and friends. His album, Time to Shine, consists of songs like Education First an English song. “I composed it to motivate the youths, to take their studies serious, so the entire nation can understand. It’s dedicated to students and learners. On this album, there is also a track Kambadhala, which means try. This song is dedicated to all the people that are trying here and there to make a living for themselves. Hustle Hard is dedicated to all the people that are on a mission of making and earning money the right way,” says Chester.
Chester adds that his album is targeting various age groups, the youth, middle age and elders. “I like to play around with lyrics. If I hear a snatch of a melody in my head, I start singing to it and see where it goes.” “If I have fewer words for that time, I take a pen and a paper and put my ideas together than write them down and most in cases; I go to the studio and listen to the beats that my producer has produced for me. Afterwards I create words and then I start recording,’ he explains.
He entices the whole Namibian nation to support the album as without their support all the efforts that artists put in their music would be thrown to wind.
