Gospel lovers are in for a joyful experience as the House of the Lord and Solution will be hosting the Shabbach competition tomorrow.
The Shabbach will feature a thrilling competition among six choirs, each battling for the coveted top honours, including a grand prize of N$1 500 and a floating trophy.
The inaugural event will be hosted at Freedom Square on N.P Geingos Street, Windhoek, at the iconic orange and purple building.
Luyanda Matongo, who forms part of the local organising committee told VIBEZ! that it was important to organise an event dedicated to worshipping and praising God.
“We have been preparing this event very carefully, and also trying to include every genre of choir. We have sent invitations to different choirs and also used social media platforms to invite more people to participate,” she said.
She added the Shabbach will be an exciting and uplifting event, showcasing the talent and dedication of the participating choirs.
Each choir will bring its unique style and passion to the stage, making for an evening of unforgettable performances and community spirit.
“The Shabbach will provide a platform to identify and award outstanding musical ensembles, soloists, composers, conductors, musicologists or compositions. In return, the choirs that will be competing against each other will get a chance to improve their vocal skills, sight-reading and musicality. The feedback they receive from judges will help them identify areas for growth and refine their techniques,” added Matongo.
She said they plan to host the Shabbach as an annual competition which they want the showcase to grow different choirs’ talents.
“We have around six choirs that have availed themselves, but more are still welcome to register to participate. The responses have been overwhelming. We are looking forward to more choirs participating,” said the gospel enthusiast.
She added: “Our judges are Dixon the ‘/Namsaro’ hitmaker, Themba Matongo from the Matongo Family, sassy saxophonist Susy Eises, and Sister Latina our very own gospel singer. These judges are well experienced in the music industry and we want to thank them for availing themselves for the big Shabbach experience.”
As Freedom Square prepares to host this landmark event, attendees can look forward to a night of inspiring music, fellowship, and the joyous celebration of faith and community.
Gospel sensation Maranatha Goroh, the old Apostolic Church of Namibia, and the HLS Choir are expected to grace the event.
