Ohangwena-based Chula Chula Football Club became the latest team to gain promotion to the Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) after winning 4-1 against Chief Santos on Saturday and 2-0 against Rangers yesterday.

Their promotion was made easy by their closest rivals Black Hawks who drew nil-all against Eastern Chiefs.

Chula Chula joins Khomas Nampol and Okakarara Warriors who were promoted to the top league this past month.

Speaking to New Era, Sakaria Haimbili, the club chairman expressed his joy, attributing their promotion to the hard work during the season.

He acknowledged the immense challenges posed by the first-division teams but emphasised that their goal from the outset was to secure promotion.

“We have just won our second match this morning, a resounding 2-0 victory against Rangers, which has secured our promotion with two games to spare. Our team demonstrated exceptional character in these last two games, displaying unwavering determination to achieve our goal.”

He acknowledged the demanding nature of the season, particularly the logistical challenges they faced due to the distance, but reiterated that their primary focus was always on securing promotion.

“From the very beginning, we aimed to clinch the title, and today we are here celebrating our success,” he stated.

Haimbili credited their victory to the resolute support of their fans and the community, whose solid encouragement played a crucial role in their triumph.

“We are fortunate to have the most passionate fans who never fail to motivate us. Additionally, the resilience displayed by our players and management proved vital in reaching this championship status,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Normalisation Committee (NC), Bisey /Uirab, told this publication that the league would commence in August, on a date yet to be determined.
