WINDHOEK

Bank Windhoek has called on Namibians to support Cancer Apple projects aimed at generating funds for cancer patients across the country.

Today, the bank in partnership with Radio Kosmos 94.1 will present the Bank Windhoek Apple Radio Drive in the fight against cancer at Fruit and Veg City, Mandume Ndemufayo Avenue.

Windhoek residents can visit the stand and participate in a “shavathon” to demonstrate their support towards the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple project, according to Marie du Plessis from the bank’s marketing department.

For only N$50, participants will receive 25 apples and can decide whether to have their head sprayed or shaved. All funds raised will go to the Cancer Association of Namibia and will form part of the Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple project, she stressed.

Businesses in Windhoek will also participate by purchasing 5 000 apples in support of the Apple Radio Drive.

Last year the financial institution, through the project, sold about 680 000 apples and generated N$700 000. The money went to the welfare of people suffering from different forms of cancer in Namibia.

Bank Windhoek has been the main sponsor of the project since 2001. Over N$2,3 million has been raised to date for the Cancer Association of Namibia. The project does not only create a way of supporting sufferers of cancer but also raises awareness about cancer in the country.

In an effort to encourage schools to take part in this year’s project, the bank intends to award a total of N$22??????’??
