Professional Provident Society Insurance Company of Namibia (PPS) recently joined the ever-expanding queue of private companies to invest in education, when it handed over bursaries to three senior information technology students currently studying towards their qualifications at the Polytechnic of Namibia (PoN).
Hedvig Iipito, a 4th year student in Business Computing, Selma Seonduru a 4th year Bachelor of Technology Computer Networking student, and Amin Haipenge a Master’s student in Information Technology Computing, received equal portions of a N$4 000 sponsorship.
Rector of the PoN, Dr Tjama Tjivikua, urged the students not to fail the sponsors and study hard. Tjivikua stressed that even though the money is little, it must not serve as a deterrent to achieve, seeing that there are some students less privileged than the three beneficiaries.
The Managing Director of PPS Namibia Margaret Bennet charged that her company is on the bandwagon of “ensuring that the leaders of tomorrow are well equipped for their task which is a noble one” indicated Bennet.
PPS Namibia is convinced that its contribution toward the education of these outstanding students will make a significant impact on the economy, said Bennet.
The students were selected from other candidates after preliminaries were conducted to ascertain the deserving and best candidate for the sponsorship.
