ONGWEDIVA – The northern electricity provider Nored has appealed to its customers to conserve electricity in order to sustain zero load shedding.

Nored public relations officer Herman Ngasia urged customers to use electricity sparingly because electricity demand increases during the winter season.

“Nored electricity is appealing to its customers to conserve electricity whenever possible in order to sustain zero load shedding,” stated Ngasia.

According to Ngasia, customers are further encouraged to use electricity sparingly during peak hours from eight in the morning until midday, and again from six in the evening until nine.

Moreover, the electricity provider is urging its customers to make use of off-peak periods, which is from ten in the evening until six in the morning.

“Among other measures, the company urged customers on maximum demand to possibly do production during off-peak periods, which is from ten in the evening until six in the morning,” he said.

Domestic workers are also encouraged to use electricity sparingly by switching off appliances that are not in use such as geysers, lighting, cookers and other water heaters.

Additionally, customers are urged to make use of energy saving bulbs as opposed to ordinary bulbs.

“Customers are further discouraged from using ordinary bulbs and make use of energy saving bulbs which consume less power,” said Ngasia.

Ngasia says adhering to measures put in place could aid to maintain a zero load shedding in the country.
