WINDHOEK – The police at Ondangwa are investigating the cause of death of a police officer who allegedly died last Friday shortly after he collapsed, while he was walking from his house at Ondangwa.
It is reported that Inspector Jonas Kahenge Kaupitwa was on his way to work at around 08h00 on Friday when he collapsed. His next of kin was informed and an inquest docket was opened. It was also reported that a 12-year-old boy drowned in a dam while swimming. The incident happened at Okatana, a village in the Oshana Region at around 13h00 on Saturday and his next of kin were informed, while a police investigation continues. A case of motor vehicle theft was opened at the Oshakati Police Station after a Toyota Quatum minibus valued at N$250 000 was stolen from a house where it was parked.
According to Inspector Stephen Nuuyi the owner of the Quantum with registration number N1244S apparently left the vehicle and the keys at his house in Uupindi Location, while he went to his other house at the village. At around 02h00 on Saturday morning, someone entered the house took the keys and drove off with the vehicle. No arrests or recovery was made and police are investigating. It was also reported that suspect(s) broke into a GRN vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Trade and Industry at U-Save Market in Oshakati at around 21H30 on Friday The thieve(s) made off with a Makarov pistol, a laptop computer and a wallet containing personal documents. The wallet was recovered at a village far from Oshakati, but no arrests were made and police are investigating.
