The Brave Gladiators will be partaking in the Cosafa Women’s Championship Cup from 18 February to 1 March in Polokwane, South Africa.
This comes after yesterday’s draw, putting Namibia in Group C alongside Mozambique and Madagascar.
Eleven teams from across the region will battle for the trophy, namely Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Hosts South Africa have been drawn into Group A alongside Malawi, Lesotho and Angola, while defending champions Zambia have been drawn with Botswana, Eswatini and Zimbabwe in Group B.
The top team in each pool will advance to the semi-finals, along with the best runner-up.
Since there are three teams in Group C, results against the bottom sides in Groups A and B will be disregarded for the purposes of that calculation.
Brave Gladiators head coach Lucky Kakuva described the draw as a positive one.
He said the team is eager to test itself against unfamiliar opposition.
“The group looks exciting. These are teams we haven’t really played much against, and we look forward to the challenge. The players are currently active at their clubs with the FNB Women Super League, which kicked off last month, so overall team fitness will not be much of a problem. We will call up a squad in the coming days and start with preparations and fine-tuning,” Kakuva said.
