WINDHOEK – A severed hand and some body tissue from pedestrian Johannes Nsamba (60) who died in the high-speed impact crash on Saturday at 21h00 at Nkandu, a village situated next to the Nkurenkuru/Rundu road, was allegedly found in the grille of the Mercedes Benz and taken separately to the mortuary.

Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton, the regional crime investigations coordinator in the Kavango Region informed New Era yesterday that on Sunday, police officers saw the hand that was severed from the victim in the high-speed impact crash and they took it to the police mortuary. The deputy commissioner added that he could not say whether it’s the right or left hand.

Chief Inspector Pretunilla Kauna Shikwambi informed the media on Sunday that on Saturday at around 21h00 at Nkandu on the Nkurenkuru village main road, the driver of a Mercedes Benz sedan vehicle bumped a pedestrian while he was crossing the road. The driver failed to stop at the scene of the accident and only reported himself at the Rundu police station after he heard that the police were looking for him. The driver suspected to have been under the influence of an intoxicating substance was arrested and will appear in court today.
