A suspected money deal gone wrong cost the life of a Malian national who was found dead with a gunshot wound to the forehead in Kleine Kuppe on Monday morning.
The 35-year-old deceased, who was dressed in a suit, formal shoes and tie, was discovered by a passerby at an open area where residents discard rubbish in the leafy suburb.
It is alleged the man, who had also spent some years in South Africa, operated a hard currency exchange business. It is suspected he was robbed of a large amount of money before he was killed.
New Era learnt the victim is known to the police and had on several occasions reported cases of his shop having been broken into.
New Era also learnt the Malian national was driving a green Hyundai Elantra 2014 model prior to the incident, but which has now gone missing.
The body was discovered between 10h00 and 11h00 on Monday by a passerby coming from one of the plots in the area. He then alerted the police.
According to Nampol spokesperson Inspector Slogan Matheus, no suspect has been arrested but the police have picked up two female suspects for questioning.
Matheus further requested the public in Windhoek and surrounding areas who have seen a green Hyundai Elantra 2014 model, with the driver’s side window missing, to alert the police or contact Detective Chief Inspector Zackaria Amakali at 061- 2094302 or 0813658404.
“The car, which belongs to the deceased, is missing from the scene. We found bits of broken window at the scene,” he stated.
