Cyber-criminals targeting banking clients

Home Business Cyber-criminals targeting banking clients

WINDHOEK – As the festive season draws closer, fraudsters are at it again and are targeting banking clients with the latest fraudulent email discovered this week.

In an email with the subject heading ‘Important security information’, Bank Windhoek clients are being requested to upgrade their internet banking profiles to avoid experiencing service problems. “The email looks authentic as it contains images taken from the Bank Windhoek website, but it is indeed a fraudulent email”, confirmed the bank.

Clients are therefore urged to ignore and delete the email without delay as Bank Windhoek and other banks say they will never communicate with clients via email requesting them to update their personal information.

“Bank Windhoek cannot accept responsibility for financial losses due to clients giving information to persons pretending to work for the Bank, or reacting to bogus emails”, said the bank.
