David Mbeha connects Namibia and China

In a recently published TV interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN) David Mbeha shared insights into his decision to move from Africa to China, his career evolution, and his vision for bridging cultures through digital creativity and media.

Mbeha is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration in China, while seeking a shift towards the digital space. He spoke with CGTN’s journalist Ioana Gomoi that he’s motivated by that country’s dynamic environment for innovation and digital transformation.

“When I decided to do my MBA, I wanted a country that offers an environment that really encompasses innovation, digital transformation and that’s the space that I would like to move into now,” he said.

Currently, Mbeha is studying in Beijing because of the city’s unique combination of political, educational, and diplomatic influence, along with its thriving creative industry.

“When I think of Beijing, it’s almost sort of a mix of politics, education, diplomacy, but also creativity, and that’s what a lot of people don’t know. I also chose Beijing because I thought, Wow, imagine being a global African voice linking China with Africa,” he said.

“From where I come from, Namibia, it is a vibrant country in terms of creativity. But what China has is access to a large audience. And what China has done that is a little bit different is that there is a huge embrace of digital creativity here. And that for me is what is really interesting and the space that I want to grow in,” he explained.

In 2015, David became the winner of TLC Entertainment’s first-ever African Next Great Presenter competition, which changed his life forever. He has been featured in Cosmopolitan South Africa to hosting the Southern African Multichoice Talent Factory. In 2022, he got the opportunity to be featured on Metro FM’s The Hustler Fix and became a content creator for Joburg TV.

“Career goal here in China is to really showcase that there is, um, a space and, and conversations to be had, and human stories to be shared, be it from China to Africa or from Africa to China. And I think the most wonderful thing about storytelling is that it allows you to understand each other better,” he said.

Mbeha’s move to China marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, where he hopes to inspire dialogue and creativity between Africa and China.

In 2023, the TV personality launched his podcast titled ‘Uninterrupted with David Mbeha’. The platform served as a conduit of conversations which brought healing, inspiration, authenticity, growth, and empowerment.
