DBN and Swakopmund sign partnership agreement

The Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) and the Swakopmund Municipal Council signed a Strategic Comprehensive Partnership Agreement (SCPA) to establish a collaborative framework aimed at driving socio-economic development at the coastal town.

The SCPA aligns resources, expertise and shared objectives of the two entities to enhance Swakopmund’s infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for its residents.

This partnership also aims to explore opportunities for public and private sector investments, fostering long-term positive impacts, and laying the groundwork for the town’s sustainable future development.

The agreement focuses on identifying, developing and implementing projects in key areas such as infrastructure development, public-private partnerships (PPPs), tourism, smart city initiatives, and the promotion of local entrepreneurship, with a special emphasis on supporting SMEs.

Representing the Municipality of Swakopmund at the signing were Alfeus Benjamin (chief executive officer), Wilfried Groenewald, alternative management committee chairperson, Dina Namubes, (mayor). The development bank was represented by Hellen Amupolo (chief investment officer), Heroldine Carstens (investments manager) and Simeon Kahona (Erongo regional manager).

A DBN statement this strategic partnership underscores a shared commitment to unlock Swakopmund’s potential as a hub of economic activity and innovation, ensuring sustainable progress for the benefit of all its residents.
