The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has announced that the 2024/25 Debmarine Namibia Premiership will officially commence on 29 November, with Debmarine Namibia committing an N$18 million sponsorship.
In a statement, the NFA emphasised that despite challenges in the diamond industry, the sponsorship underscores the positive impact natural diamonds have on local communities.
The NFA highlighted how natural diamonds contribute to job creation, sustainable practices, and community development, reinforcing the value of diamonds in fostering national pride and unity.
The association also noted that the recommitment to sponsoring the premier league aligns with efforts to use football as a vehicle for social good, promoting positive narratives in the sport.
“Positive and amicable engagements in football throughout this season could foster growth in the sport and demonstrate how natural diamonds can be a force for good in our society,” the NFA stated.
The NFA thanked the clubs and football fans for their patience and support as they worked to ensure a smooth and successful launch of the new season. The association also called on all stadium owners, including government, municipalities, and private entities, to ensure their facilities are ready to host Debmarine Namibia Premiership matches.
Additionally, the NFA and Debmarine Namibia urged small-and-medium enterprises selling food and beverages at stadiums to continue supporting the sport and contributing to the country’s economic development.
In conclusion, the NFA expressed gratitude to Debmarine Namibia for its continued support of football, urging football lovers to attend matches in large numbers to help clubs maximize the returns on Debmarine’s investment. The NFA emphasised its commitment to the global ‘Football Unites the World’ movement, which seeks to harness the power of football for social and economic good.
Debmarine Namibia also extended gratitude to the NFA for its efforts to maintain professionalism and integrity in the league. Young African’s Maleagi Ngarizemo expressed optimism about the upcoming season, saying they are eager to see how things unfold. The fixtures will be made available early next week, NFA said.
