WINDHOEK – President Hifikepunye Pohamba could commission new ambassadors and high commissioners at a ceremony expected be held at State House today.
According to Foreign Affairs sources, the move is expected to see some of the old diplomats being redeployed to new posts, while new ones are also expected to be appointed.
By yesterday, the list of the affected diplomats was not made available to the media, but reports have it that the affected missions include Australia, Geneva, India, Japan and London.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture Steve Katjiuanjo is said to be among the new diplomats to be commissioned today.
It is however unclear where he will be posted, but sources suggested Katjiuanjo could be the new High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Other names that have circulated are those of Pius Dunaiski from the Bilateral Department, Sophia Nangombe a Deputy Director of the Multilateral Department and Sabina Bohker-Moller a senior official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
