DJ Luscious ready to take over DJ-ing scene

Home Art Life DJ Luscious ready to take over DJ-ing scene

WINDHOEK-Humble, ambitious and creative fun loving young lady, DJ Luscious, says she want to be a role model to young ones.

Born in a small town of Otjiwarongo, her passion as a DJ started way back in 2006 when she signed up with a record label known as Krazzy-Entertainment. She recorded up to seven tracks one of them, Up In The Club, complimented by a music video, featured on local television stations’ music programmes.  “I enrolled for media arts and technology studies at the College of the Art (COTA) in 2009, majored in music and sound engineering where I was the only female in my class. Something I am quite passionate about music is that, it takes me to a different place in imagination and I cannot imagine life without music,” says DJ Luscious.

“I started Dj’ing at a very young age by selecting playlists and music for family parties, functions at my schools and so on,” she adds.

DJ Luscious is currently  working as a Production Technician and Presenter at radio Energy 100 FM.  Her duties include producing jingles, radio adverts, recording and editing sound bites and interviews. “I love being a DJ and making people dance, this has always been one of my dreams and it has come true. So far I have played alongside most DJs in Namibia but a highlight will be when I played alongside Channel O’s DJ Cosmo and popular DJ Groove Candy both from South Africa earlier this year,” she recalls delightedly. DJ Luscious comes a long way.  One of her great moment was in 2011, when she started with her internship at a music studio in Windhoek, Maj Beatz Productions getting an opportunity to work with the likes of Namibians big artists such as Gazza, Sunny Boy and  Ras Sheehama. Ever since there, she has been  showing no intent of stopping and that led her all the way until she was awarded a great opportunity by COTA and selected as one of two students to work alongside one of the United States of  America  biggest and Grammy award winning sound engineer and producer, Allan Sanderson. Together  recorded a 16-track album for Namibia’s prominent rock band Penilane. “I learned so much and gained enough experience and knowledge to enhance my capabilities as both a producer and sound engineer. I have travelled to play in most places and towns in Namibia and I am yet to have a major gig outside the country,” she says.

Currently,  Dj Luscious is being promoted to Production Technician and a standby presenter at Energy 100Fm. She recently signed under Turntable King Productions as a DJ/producer and also released her two newest singles as a DJ titled Digub remix featuring Dixon, and Hanataga ha O featuring Damas G. “I am looking forward to a great future in my career and I am eager to grab every opportunity that comes my way. I want to be a role model. Someone  young ones or even older people can look up to and realise that if you can dream it, with perseverance and determination anything is possible,” she signs off.
