WALVIS BAY – Christaline von Broen (28) a police clerk at Walvis Bay accused of stealing police dockets had her case postponed to November 12 for further police investigation.
Von Broen, who made her third appearance on Tuesday in front of Magistrate Vicky Nicoladis in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court currently remains free on N$3 000 bail. She was arrested in July after she was allegedly caught with dockets after police set a trap for her. Von Broen was employed as a clerk in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the police in the Erongo Region and worked with various dockets prior to her arrest, it is alleged.
During her arrest the Crime Investigations Co-ordinator in the Erongo Region Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa said a trap was set for Von Broen who had been under police surveillance for some time and the trap eventually led to her arrest. Her arrest was seen as a major breakthrough by Nampol who had been baffled by the constant disappearance of police dockets containing crucial information on criminal cases, causing the prosecution to lose many cases as a result of her activities.
