A wave of crime, drug busts and tragic incidents rocked several regions over the last weekend, leaving families in mourning and police with a heavy caseload.
In Walvis Bay, Hage Geingob Street, it is alleged that the suspect broke into a 48-year-old Namibian female’s house, beat her, tied her up and stole two firearms, two gold watches, money in cash, an iPhone 16, a laptop and jewellery.
The items are valued at N$356 000.
No arrest or recovery has yet been made.
This is according to the weekend crime report by the Namibian Police.
At Rehoboth, a 30-year-old Namibian male was arrested after he was found in possession of 110 grammes (g) of cannabis, valued at N$5 500.
In Nkurenkuru, a 36-years-old male suspect was found in possession of 78g of cannabis, valued at N$689.
At Ehangano location in Outjo, two males, aged 31 and 37, respectively were arrested after they were found in possession of a pangolin skin without a permit.
In Aimablaagte location in Mariental, it is alleged that Jeffrey Bartman (27) died on the scene after he was stabbed with a knife in his chest.
The suspect was arrested.
Police in Omuthiya are searching for a 70-year-old man, accused of raping a 32-year-old intellectually impaired woman.
At Iipanda village in Oshikoto region, it is alleged that a 35-year-old Angolan male raped a 22-years-old Namibian female intellectually disabled person whilst she was attending a wedding ceremony.
The suspect was arrested.
In Paul Mogagabe Street in Katutura, it is alleged that Edward Simbo (52) burned beyond recognition when his shack caught fire whilst cooking meat.
Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi urged the public to exercise caution on the roads, report suspicious activities and seek help where needed.
“These incidents are a reminder of the urgent need for vigilance and community cooperation to curb crime and prevent further loss of life,” she stressed.
