WINDHOEK – The DTA of Namibia has announced Immanuel Auchomub as its candidate for the Windhoek West Constituency by-election for the Khomas Region.
According to Vinsent Kanyetu, DTA secretary general, Auchomub, a teacher by profession, is a loyal, committed and proven member of the party who is willing to serve the people of Windhoek West.
“As the representative for the Windhoek West Constituency on the Khomas Regional Council, Auchomub will work towards increased security and liveability of neighbourshoods through the reduction of crime as well as more effective regulation of shebeens,” said Kanyetu at a press briefing yesterday.
He said Auchomub would focus on making the Westerb Bypass a safer road for all users as the roadway presents a significant danger to those who travel on it, as witnessed by the high number of vehicle accidents and fatalities.
“The DTA has the utmost confidence in its candidate for the upcoming by-election. As a teacher Auchomub is a contributor to the local community and understands the issues at the heart of the community,” he added. He said the candidate “was born DTA and grew up in a DTA family” and also served in the party’s youth league for close to nine years.
“He has been an unwavering member and we have trust in him,” said Kanyetu.
On his part, Auchomub said the main issues he has at heart is a reduction in crime and stopping the proliferation of shebeens in the area.
He said Windhoek West is a big constituency and because of the big population of about 53 000 people, crime is not excluded.
The candidate said that if elected, he would hold consultative meetings with residents to come up with measures to curb crime.
Auchomub said shebeens were another headache that was causing noise pollution in the area and he would tackle that if he wins.
