Windhoek

RMB Namibia, through the FNB Foundation, sponsored N$104 000 towards the Early-Rider Development BMX programme of the Namibian Cycling Federation (NCF). Part of the proceeds was used to host an event in Omuthiya over the weekend of January 15.

Altogether 48 children signed up for participation, but of those only four were able to actually ride a bicycle confidently.

Ray Auala, chairman of RMB, said: “At RMB we believe that good business creates a better world. While business is a fundamental part of society, it is also our responsibility to have an interest in the success of society.”
He added that society could only prosper as a whole if all aspects were in harmony. This includes money matters, health, wealth and a general feeling of wellbeing.

Auala expressed his joy with the success of the weekend and the fun had in general. “What a fantastic way to enjoy the day, especially as a youngster by mastering a fairly easy skill such as riding a bicycle. We feel that this should not be something that only the privileged few can do, but all Namibians.”

“The bicycles were handed over to the school (Epundi Combined School) where they will continue to train and build on the foundations laid during this eventful weekend.

“Follow-ups on the programme will be done by the NCF and RMB Namibia Committee in order to ensure that the programme continues. We look forward to many more fun days and children who can ride a bicycle.”
