Eenhana Expo preps in full swing

Eenhana Expo preps in full swing

Paulina Ndalikokule

Eenhana Town Council has made provision to revamp food stalls to improve and prepare for the 14th edition of the Eenhana Trade and Business Expo.

It is scheduled to take place from 29 July to 4 August 2024 at the Eenhana Convention Centre.

Speaking to New Era, Eenhana spokesperson Ottilie Shingenge said they managed to construct and revamp about 50 food stalls, while 152 exhibitors have registered and are approved to take part in the expo.

“People have been complaining that selling food from the open space was not conducive and it lacked proper safety,” she said.

The council used its own staff to construct the stalls, being employees and two interns from Eenhanha Vocational Training Centre.

“We are looking forward to more exhibitors registering before the due date for registration, which is this Friday,” she said.

Both public and private institutions will be taking part in this year’s expo.

Shingenge encouraged parents to send their children to the expo to take advantage of the chance and learn from different public institutions and government ministries, such as the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, which will be showcasing their activities.

This year’s gala dinner held at the town raised N$414 470 for the expo.

Shingenge said although the keynote speaker is yet to be announced, the official opening is scheduled for 31 July.

In terms of security, 54 security personnel will be guarding the expo, and they are also engaging the police to beef up security.

The expo is a platform where people from all walks of life come together to discuss business, engage in different topics, and share information.

Shingenge called on residents of Eenhana, Ohangwena region, the north and the whole of Namibia to visit the expo.

This year’s theme is ‘Reviving Local Economy Through Business Resilience, Innovation and Diversification’.
