EENHANA – The Eenhana Primary School and the Mouwa English Private School  in the Ohangwena region held their annual awards ceremony during which it awarded different prizes to its  top performing learners.

The Eenhana school hall was filled to capacity as pupils waited in anticipation to find out who will get the prizes.  There were energetic performances by the school traditional troupes and choirs while others recited poems encouraging their fellow pupils to study hard. The Principal, Olivia Nakale, applauded her learners and also thanked her teachers for always striving to do the best with the little resources available. More than 154 learners were awarded for their outstanding performance academically and in extramural activities.  “I think I have no doubt for my staff members here because last year we awarded 126 learners but the number has since increased to 154 meaning that we are working harder to achieve our goals,” she says.

She wants her primary school to be the best in the region competing with other private schools established in the region like the Mouwa English Private School. “If it was not for the teachers at this school, this prestigious annual event was not going to take place.  It gives me great pleasure to see all those that received these awards smiling with their parents.  We want to see healthy competitions amongst our Namibian learners as these awards are a result of their hard work and motivation,” she says.

Paula Ndayambekae was awarded the overall best learner  in the Lower Primary category while Rauna Shikukumwa was awarded the Overall best in the Upper Primary.  The both received certificates and school bags plus hampers. “I feel very great even though we have shared the prize with another learner, Rauna Shikukumwa. I  always pays attention in class, takes notes and revises when I get home with my parents.  I want to encourage my fellow learners not to be influenced by their friends’ behaviour and should use their talent and gifts well,” says Ndayambekae.

In the Upper Primary School in Grade 5 the top performers are  Lylie Shikukumwa, Rackel Ndavela and Sesta Ikanda.

Meanwhile, the Mouwa English Private School also awarded its best learners last Saturday.  Among the learners awarded with prizes were Daphne Shahonga in Grade 1 who passed English Language with 100 percent and Dalton Hedimbi who was also passed this year’s Mathematics with 90 percent.

The most disciplined awards went to Charles Ngalula and Alba Mwaningange who were awarded certificates and school bags.  The two learners were also the Master and Mistress of Ceremonies at the ceremony. This awards ceremony

was attended by guardians and parents including the Ondobe Constituency Councillor, Mandume Pohamba.
