Eenhana suspends CEO

Eenhana Town Council CEO Gabriel Benjamin has been suspended for three months.

He was suspended on 3 July 2024.
Eenhana mayor Omri-Oon Kavandje yesterday confirmed the suspension to New Era.
He stressed that the suspension is linked to Benjamin’s performance.

However, he refused to disclose further information.
The mayor indicated that Benjamin is still going to get his salary, including all benefits.
“Investigations are underway regarding his suspension. Therefore, more information will be disclosed after the investigations have [are] completed,” he added.
In an exclusive interview with New Era yesterday, the CEO claimed his suspension is part of a “witch-hunt” against him.

“They want to give a post to the preferred CEO, current acting CEO Gabriel Mwaninga.”

He added that there is an agenda to frustrate him to pave the way for his replacement.
He narrated that his suspension letter states clearly that “suspension from duty station pending investigation”.

“No charge sheet; no further reasons for my suspension,” Benjamin added.

He said the council has since blocked his access to the building through the security guards.
“CEOs are powerful entities within the local authorities’ fraternity. They have been suspended all along. The mother ministry had issued directives on the matter,” he said.
“Unless they are strictly adhered to, this suspension becomes odd, unprocedural, irrational, witch-hunt bogus, corrupt, and legally baseless,” Benjamin said.

He has been Eenhana’s CEO since 2021.

His contract runs until December 2024. fhamalwa@nepc.com.na
