WINDHOEK – Namibian Recurve archer Xander Reddig, who has already qualified for the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games in China later this year, has been joined by archers from Egypt, Libya and Benin.
Reddig achieved the minimum qualification criteria for the Youth Olympic Games at the Independence Shoot last month and the South African Championships, enabling him to claim his universality place to book a place among the best young archers the world has to offer.
He will now be joined by the top two nations that qualified at the African Youth
Archery Championships at the DTS Sports Grounds in Windhoek this week.
In the men’s division Libya and Egypt achieved qualification with Ali Elgharari and Seifeldin Elsehely reaching the final of the competition in the recurve cadet division.
In the ladies recurve cadet division, Egypt qualified through Hana Elshimy and Rana Kamel, who both advanced to the final where they will face off against each other later today.
Benin’s Kpetchehoue Zinsou ensured her country walks away with the 2nd qualification spot by claiming the bronze medal match after dispatching Egypt’s Salma Esmat.
