WINDHOEK– Kalahari born troubadour Elemotho is once again gracing the Warehouse Theatre tonight before he departs to perform at the World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD) in the United Kingdom (UK) on June 26.

According to Elemotho, it’s a tradition for him to host a home concert before going on tour.

“I never leave home without performing. It’s more like saying good bye, it’s something I always do and will continue doing,” says Elemotho. He adds that fans can expect something different tonight as the show will consist of Afro-Rock, acoustic Afrika, psychedelic electric guitar and meditative melodies. “I believe in music, in the power of music. I’m blessed because what I do makes people happy, so expect fire because that’s what I do.  I bring down the roof,” he says.

Elemotho is a Namibian-born musician, who composes and performs his own music in his mother tongue, Setswana, as well as English and several other languages.Elemotho is one of the Namibian musicians who have travelled and performed before bigger audiences internationally. He cannot hide his excitement about performing at the WOMAD next week. “I’m super excited. This is a big deal for me. Contemporary African music is all I’m about. We go and we murder. This is my dream come true and I’m moving in the right direction,” Elemotho says, adding that this will also be an opportunity for him to do international collabos and get to know other musicians.
Elemotho would like to extend his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Namibian government under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, Directorate of Arts, who made transport and accommodation possible to England.  Elemotho will share the stage with fellow African stars like Salif Keita, Manu Dibango and Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudz.

WOMAD is an international arts festival that brings together many forms of music, arts and dances from countries and cultures around the world and shares one stage.

The Concert at the Warehouse starts at 20h00 and tickets are available for N$90 in advance at Stay Today Namibia website: www.staytoday.com.na/events or pay N$100 the door.
