The Eliminator Table Tennis Club aims to expand the sport across Namibia by launching sister clubs and encouraging new clubs to affiliate. To start off this initiative, the club will host a six-hour training session on 17 January 2026 in Windhoek.
The training will focus on cementing the basics and understanding the finer rules of the sport, improving skills, evaluating areas of weakness and the need for development. Players will receive training on their footwork, serves and improving their weak shots.
The training is open to beginners and advanced players and everyone else interested in learning about table tennis coaching, administration and umpiring from the age of six.
Coach and Development officer of Eliminator Table tennis Club, Theo Beukes said the sessions are necessary to form habits which are the foundation for players to play at national, regional, continental and intercontinental levels.
“This will serve everyone well with competitions, regardless of the format that comes,” said Beukes.
Speaking on the club’s strategic vision for the year, Beukes said the club envisions being a leader for youth table tennis development across the country.
“We want sister clubs all over the country and in all 14 regions. We want to not only produce national players, but umpires, coaches, volunteers and administrators,” Beukes said.
According to Beukes, the creation of sister clubs will allow for easier access to table tennis, because a club based in Windhoek alone cannot do much across the country. Clubs in all the regions will be able to spread the popularity of the game and ensure sustainability and growth.
