Inspector-General of the Namibian Police Force (Nampol), Sebastian Ndeitunga, has appointed Commissioner Oscar Peter Embubulu as deputy inspector-general for operations.

With the appointment, Embubulu moved from the rank of a commissioner to that of major general within the ranks of Nampol. Embubulu takes over the reins with immediate effect.

He takes over from Major-General Des Shilunga, who went on retirement after 27 years of service in law enforcement.
During the hand-over ceremony on Thursday last week at Nampol’s headquarters, Ndeitunga praised Embubulu, stating that he is a tested cadre of the Namibian revolution who holds military, police and academic credentials.

Embubulu joined Nampol in 1996, as a deputy commissioner stationed at the Directorate of Special Field Force. He, later on, served as deputy commissioner at the Directorate of Human Resources and principal officer in the office of the inspector-general. In 2009, Embubulu became Nampol’s first attaché based in Pretoria, South Africa.
Before his appointment, Embubulu served as chief of security to the head of state from 2013 to 2015 and later as a commissioner and head of the Very Important Persons Protection Directorate (VIPPDir). Embubulu held the position until his latest appointment.

Embubulu has vowed to perform his duties as deputy inspector-general for operations with diligence, commitment, honesty, loyalty and dedication.

“I can assure you, General Sirs, that with the experience of more or less 10 years in the office of the inspector-general, I have enough feeling of how the affairs of your office are all about. I believe and hope that I will be of assistance to your efforts in taking the force to high heights,” said Embubulu.
