In their efforts to keep local footballers ready for the upcoming big tournaments in the region, the Epukiro Youth Forum have organised a mini-football tournament, called Preparatory Games, which will be played at the Epukiro Sports Field.
One of the organisers, iselah Kamuhenune and her friend Rinomasa Kaukuata thought of hosting the tournament to motivate and encourage youth to do more for their respective teams.
Yesterday, about seven teams registered for the competition, which will be played in knockout format. The participating teams registered with N$300, and more local teams showed their interest in coming to the mini-tournament.
The organiser said the draw will be done at the stadium before the kick-off, and the teams are urged to come early on Saturday.
“Since we do not have a sponsor, the competition money will be determined by the registration amount. However, we forked out N$1 000 cash that will be added to the winning price of the final winner,” Kamuhenune stated.
The first match is expected to start tomorrow at 10h00, and the finals will be played on Sunday.
