Today is St Valentine’s Day. That time of the year when couples extravagantly express their feelings for each other by sending each other an array of gifts including Valentine cards, flowers, chocolates, perfumes, lingerie and confectionery.
The history of Valentine’s Day and its patron saint is shrouded in mystery. It is believed the occasion is named after two among numerous early Christian martyrs named Valentine. St Valentine’s Day has now become a multi-cultural and multi-national global event.
Also according to Leap Year tradition girls have the first chance to pop the question of marriage if they think they have found Mr Right and Valentine’s Day presents just the right opportunity.
On St Valentine’s Day eve, New Era took to the streets and here is what some people think:
