eWallet continues to benefit FNB Clients

Home Youth Corner eWallet continues to benefit FNB Clients

FNB Namibia is once again reminding all their valued customers that they do not need to visit a branch of FNB Namibia to do their banking but can bank safely anytime, anywhere in the comfort of their home, in front of an ATM or through a cellphone.

One of the winning stories in self service banking in Namibia is the revolutionary FNB eWallet, which enables account holders of FNB to transfer money to a beneficiary by using only a cellphone number, meaning no bank account is required by the beneficiary. These funds can then be partially or fully cashed out at an FNB ATM or Slim line, stored on the cellphone for future use, or used to purchase airtime.

FNB Namibia however, as a responsible corporate citizen, regrets to advise that it will no longer allow eWallet users to on-send money to another cellphone holder effective from Monday, May 17. This is in line with the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements in terms of international standards on combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism and proliferation set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), which deems transactions between anonymous beneficiaries to be non-desirable.

FNB again reiterates that FNB customers can still send money to a beneficiary using eWallet from their (KYC compliant) FNB accounts.
